Join Kveta Morgan, Washington State Court Registered, Medical and Social Services Interpreter, for a discussion of current ethical issues which both experienced and inexperienced interpreters face “out on the field” on assignment. The emphasis in this class will be on the conflicts of interest we face as interpreters and the professional boundaries our Code of Ethics imposes on us. What are the limits of what we can do and say with patients, medical practitioners and families? When is it OK or necessary to go beyond these boundaries? In addition to an end-of-session written exercise to demonstrate individual’s understanding of Washington State DSHS Code of Ethics, this workshop will be interactive, with opportunity for conversation about recent challenges an individual has faced.
